People in Need published its media supplement on the occasion of the World Toilet Day (October 19th). Every third person in the world still does not have its own toilet; almost half of these people do not have access to any sanitation facilities. Every year more than 2 million people in developing countries die as a result of diseases connected to the lack of sanitation facilities, access to clean water and proper hygiene habits. Diarrhea kills more people in the world then malaria or HIV and causes malnutrition. Therefore we decided to raise awareness about water, sanitation and the importance of toilet that we believe is one of the best inventions that save lives. The media supplement was published in the daily magazine Tyden.
