PMVRO the Slovak partner of Media4Development

PMVRO (The Slovak NDGO Platform) is an interest group of legal entities, an umbrella organization of 31 non-governmental organizations in Slovakia (24 regular members and 7 observers) primarily active in the area of international development cooperation, humanitarian assistance and global education. The NGDO Platform’s role is to represent the common interests of its member organizations both at home and abroad, influence policy making in the area of development cooperation and raise public awareness about issues related to development assistance. The members of the Platform are indispensable actors of the Slovak Official Development Assistance.

The NGDO Platform began to emerge in 1998. In 2003, it was established as an interest group of 15 legal entities and was officially registered at the Regional Office in Bratislava. In May 2010, the NGDO Platform and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which the NGDO Platform was granted a status of an official partner of the MFA for review and preparation of key documents related to development policies and development cooperation.

The NGDO Platform is a partner of the project Media4Development funded by European Union. The project coordinator Dagmar Mekinova and her colleagues are looking forward to the three year cooperation with organizations from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Finland and GB/Ireland. We believe that our participation in the project will lead to increased interest of people living in Slovakia, policy makers in global issues and that the journalists will be more determined to cover them.
