Activities by ERR in Estonia

Estonian Public Broadcasting (in Estonian Eesti Rahvusringhääling, abbreviated as ERR) runs the public TV and radio channels in Estonia. ERR's mission is to to develop and care for life in Estonia and vision is to be the most trustworthy and influential media organization in Estonia. Core values are trustworthiness, independence, openness, professionalism, creativity and efficacy. ERR is the member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

In this project ERR's main role is to produce 12 documentaries on development issues to be aired on national TV. ERR will involve 12 of its main reporters and journalists for making the documentaries. In addition, these journalists will also discuss the issues in their own shows, provide clips for news and other programs and thus increase the coverage on development topics on TV and radio.

As a kick-off to the Media4Development project ERR opened a new newsportal for global education http://err.ee/l/maailm. As a start the portal showed live broadcast of the election debate on development cooperation organised by Mondo on 12th February. The debate was led by our star journalist Indrek Treufeldt. You ca watch the debate here: http://err.ee/v/maailm/uudised/9609e034-3dba-4c2e-8ae6-f79f13fa0048

Currently ERR is preparing a meeting of documentary producers from all the participating countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Estonia to discuss the format and content of the documentaries to be produced within this project. We'll keep you updated on the results.
